2005 Basketball Coaches Summit Win the Tip! member coaches convened at the Sea-Tac Doubletree Hotel on Saturday, September 17th for a member’s only coaching summit. Hall of Fame Coach Don Meyer presented his philosophy of coaching, while entertaining members with stories of an 800+ win coaching career. His presentation included the concept of self-evaluation; why you coach, the importance of reflecting on what you have learned and then improving on what you have learned. “Savor the success of your work and learn to relax away from coaching,” stated Coach Meyer. Coach Jerry Krause, the author of over 27 books on coaching basketball, started the open discussion session by stating, “Lead and serve your team with confidence and humility.” He continued leading the discussion by having members share successful ideas that they had implemented with their teams. They provided tips on coaching philosophy, motivation, player-coach relationships and more. “It was a fantastic opportunity to be involved with a great group of coaches that share a strong passion for the game,” stated member Greg Turcott (Bishop Blanchet High School). Fourteen Win the Tip! members participated in the Summit. This was the third Win the Tip! Coaching Summit and the eighth Win the Tip! Member Event.
