GUY WELLS – The Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Troy High School in Troy, ID.  Coach Wells recently led his team to a 2nd place finish at the Idaho State 1A Basketball State Tournament.


GOING TO STATE!

The Win the Tip! Basketball Coaches Network would like to congratulate the following Win the Tip! Members on taking their team to the State Tournament; Brad Smith, Labette County (KS), Wes Holmquist, CM Russell High School (MT), Herb Welling, Omaha Central High School (NE), Shim Shimizu, Taft High School (CA). NATIONAL TOURNAMENT!

The following Win the Tip! members will be involved in upcoming National Tournaments.  NCAA DII: Tom Wood, Humboldt State University (CA), Don Meyer, Sundance Wicks, and Randy Baruth, Northern State University (SD), Brad Loos, Central Missouri State, and Jeff Willms, Fort Hays State (KS).  NAIA DII Women: Arabie Connor and Bruce Tate, Ottawa University (KS).  NAIA DII Men: Drew Grzella, Iowa Wesleyan University (IA), Doug Hall, Southwestern College (KS).  We will be following national tournaments over the next couple of weeks.  If we miss your team, please contact pete@winthetip.org


MEMBER CONTINUES UNDEFEATED SEASON!

Win the Tip! Member MIKE TAYLOR, the Head Coach of Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany improved to 22-0 by beating Breitengussbach, 108-77 Saturday night.  The victory makes Ulm the first team in 2.Bundesliga South history to reach the 22 win mark in the season unbeaten.

HERB WELLING – The Assistant Boy’s Basketball Coach at Omaha Central High School.  Omaha Central won the Nebraska Boy’s State A Championship this past weekend.

MIKE COLE – The Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Bozeman High School in Bozeman, MT.  Coach Cole recently led his team to a 2nd place finish at the Montana State AA Basketball State Tournament.


COACH OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS!

The Win the Tip! Basketball Coaches Network is implementing a Win the Tip! Coach of the Year Award to be given to one head coach and one assistant coach each year.  This award is only for Win the Tip! members.  Please provide a brief statement why you believe your nomination should receive this award.  Coach of the Year award winners will be selected by the Board of Directors at the Annual meeting May 20th.   Send your nominations to pete@winthetip.org

DAVE GARRISON- The Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Excelsior Springs High School in Missouri.  After going winless in his first season, Coach Garrison led Excelsior Springs to a District Championship this past season.
